DR. KEN FENTRESS - SENIOR PASTOR

Ken Fentress     Dr. Ken Fentress has served as the Senior Pastor of Montrose Baptist Church in Rockville, Maryland since 2007.  He formerly served as Dean of Intercultural Programs and Associate Professor of Hebrew and Old Testament Interpretation at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky.  He has served in several pastoral and teaching positions.  In addition to preaching, Dr Fentress writes the rediscovering the gospel blog.   

     Ken attended Howard University in Washington, D. C.  He has earned the Bachelor Of Arts Degree in Biblical Studies from The Criswell College in Dallas, Texas, the Master Of Divinity Degree from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky, and the Master Of Arts and Doctor of Philosophy Degrees in Near Eastern Studies from The Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland. Ken is married to Linda and they have three children.

CURTIS SUMPTER - EXECUTIVE PASTOR

Curtis Sumpter     Pastor Curtis Sumpter has ministered at Montrose Baptist Church in Rockville, Maryland since 1999 and has served on the Pastoral Staff as an Associate Pastor since 2002. Curt earned his  Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology at The American University in Washington, DC, his Master of Counseling and Divinity at The Capital Bible Seminary in Lanham, MD and is currently pursuing his Doctor of Philosophy Degree in Psychology from Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA.

     Pastor Curt has served as a crisis counselor for Montgomery County, is a member of The American Board of Christian Counselors,  The International Board of Christian Counselors, The Board of Christian Professional and Pastoral Counseling and The American Association of Marriage and Family Therapist. Curt has taught psychology, philosophy, Bible and theology at the high school, college and graduate levels. Curt counsels in the context of the local church with God’s Word as the foundational text and the Holy Spirit as our ultimate counselor.

TIMOTHY HEIN - PASTOR OF DISCIPLESHIP

Timothy Hein     Pastor Timothy Hein joined Montrose Baptist Church as an Associate Pastor for discipleship in July 2008. Pastor Timm strives to lead the members of Montrose Baptist Church to connect to God's Word, connect to Jesus Christ, and thereby connect to each other. This includes Sunday School, bible studies, community groups, and mentoring relationships.

     Having received the call to gospel ministry, Pastor Timm completed his Bachelors at Moody Bible Institute (Chicago, IL) and then a Master of Divinity from the School of Theology at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (Louisville, KY). Pastor Timm is married to Manju and enjoys spending time with his wife, reading theology, philosophy, culture, psychology and literature. Timm and Manju have one child, Ezra He also enjoys watching/playing sports, good movies, and spending time with family & friends.

JON WALLER - WORSHIP LEADER

Jon Waller     Jon Waller has been leading worship at Montrose since August 2007. Jon received his license into the Gospel ministry in October 1995. Jon has a degree from Towson University in Jazz/Commercial Piano Performance and has worked extensively in the gospel and jazz arenas. Jon has written, produced or conducted for Christian artists Toby Mac, Fred Hammond, Point of Grace, Vicky Yohe, Anthony Evans, TRUTH, the Brooklyn tabernacle Choir, the Christ Church Choir, and the Mt Paran Church of God choir. Jon has also performed or recorded with jazz artists Peabo Bryson, Kirk Whalum, Stanely Jordan, Wayman Tisdale, Ronnie Laws, Lonnie Liston Smith, Tom Browne, Ken Navarro, Abe Laboriel, Alex Acuna, and Ronald "Boo" Hinkson.

     Jon Waller serves as the Dean of International Students at Montrose Christian School and teaches classes during the week. Jon currently resides in Silver Spring with his wife Stephanie and two children, Lincoln and Sadie.

JAMES FIELDS - DEAN OF STUDENTS

James Fields      Rev. James Anthony Perry Fields, Jr. began serving as the Dean of Students at Montrose Christian School in 2010. He was licensed into the ministry in July 2001 and was ordained in July 2009. Born in Detroit, he received a Bachelor of Science in Health Administration and a Master of Public Administration from Central Michigan University. In December 2010, he received his Master of Divinity degree from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.

      Rev. Fields has a strong passion for youth and their spiritual development in the knowledge and grace of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To that end, the Lord has used various ministry and administrative positions to train Rev. Fields for his current position as Dean of Students at Montrose Christian School. Pastor Fields is married to Katherine and they have one daughter, Naomi.  Whatever the Fields do, they seek to honor God- their family motto is: “Embrace God’s grace and extend God’s glory!”

DANIEL PARK - YOUNG ADULT MINISTRY

Daniel Park     Daniel Park joined Montrose Baptist Church in Rockville, MD as the student minister in 2007. Daniel was born in Silver Spring, Maryland but spent ten years of his life growing up on the mission field in South-East Asia. After he returned to attend the University of Maryland in 2005, he became involved in the youth and young adult ministry at Montrose and joined the staff in 2007. Soon after, Stratosphere was started and currently encompasses youth and young adult meetings, bible studies, and outreach.

     He enjoys mentoring youth and watching God work in the lives of young people. Currently in graduate school at Johns Hopkins, he doesn't have much time for his hobbies. But when he does, you'll find him playing music, watching local sports teams, or playing soccer.

LINDA FENTRESS - EXECUTIVE ADMIN ASSISTANT

Linda Fentress     Linda Fentress serves as the Executive Administrator for Montrose Ministries and the Coordinator for Women's Ministry. She along with her family joined Montrose Baptist Church in June 2008. Linda a native of Fort Worth, Texas, attended Texas Southern University, majoring in Business Administration.

     Linda and her husband Ken have three children, Tosha, Hope and Jordan; along with two grandsons Donovan and Brian. Her relationship with Christ as her Lord and Savor began at an early age. She has been active in the church most of her life and has a passion for learn more and more about God. Linda enjoys spending time with her family, with God and sharing her passion for the Lord with other women.

PAMELA BUTLER - SENIOR ACCOUNTANT

Pamela Butler     Pamela Butler has served as the Senior Accountant for Montrose Ministries since 2010. Pamela graduated from McKinley Tech H.S. in Washington, DC. Three years later, she received a B.S. in Accounting from Pennsylvania State College. For the past 25 years, she has worked in many areas of accounting in small businesses. She considers accounting an important ministry using discipline and wise stewardship over funds that have been entrusted to Montrose. One of her favorite parts of the Bible is the parable of the Ten Talents. In her words, “God entrusts us with many things and how we use them is a testament to Him.”

A native of Washington DC, Pamela and her husband, Clayton, were married in 1993 and have one son. The Butlers joined Montrose Baptist Church in the fall of 2009. She first recalls professing her faith in Christ as a preteen.

KHALILAH MCCANTS - EXECUTIVE ADMINISTRATOR CDC

Khalilah McCants     Khalilah McCants serves as the Executive Director of Montrose Christian Child Development Center in Rockville, MD since 2010. She joined Montrose Baptist Church in October 2010. As a preacher's kid, she grew up in the church and gave her life to Christ at an early age. Khalilah attended Howard University in Washington, DC and worked in the nursing field before accepting God's calling to begin a career in education. She has served children ages infants through 6thgraders in the Maryland and D.C. areas for the past 12 years.

     Khalilah enjoys spending time with her young son, reading, cooking and encouraging others in the faith. She reminds others to never underestimate the power of prayer and know that nothing is impossible with God if you have faith.

JOSEPH RUNKLES - DIRECTOR OF TECHNOLOGY

Joseph Runkles     Joseph Runkles has served as the director of technology for Montrose Baptist Church in Rockville, Maryland since 2008. Joseph attended Cedarville University for a year before entering the Air Force. You will find him working with the computers of the church and school, as well as helping with the sound during the Sunday morning worship. Joseph is working on completing his Bachelors degree toward a calling of serving as a pastor.

     Joseph met his wife Danielle while serving on short term missions in Malawi, Africa. They were married in 2008 and have one son, Callen. He enjoys working with computers, playing basketball and talking with people about their views of God.
